William C. Cobb Jr.

William C. Cobb Jr., a gifted man endowed with many talents, has been drawing fine art for more than sixty years. For 50 of those years, he painted using various mediums while perfecting realism. Mr. Cobb has seven published works from his series of paintings depicting his childhood. His recent works have expanded to include realist charcoal drawings.

In 1998, Mr. Cobb was commissioned by the New York City Ministerial Alliance of the African Methodist Episcopal Church to paint the Bishop and founder of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, Bishop Richard Allen. Bishop Allen’s portrait is among the archives and a permanent collection of The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture of the New York Public Library in Harlem, New York.

In 2004, William Cobb partnered with renowned photographer Milton Rogovin in a joint venture featuring Mr. Cobb in an oil on canvas reproduction of “Black Father and Son on Steps in Appalachia” from Milton Rogovin’s book, “The Forgotten Ones,” and in “Family Portraits from around the World” photography series, Appalachia 1962-71. Limited Edition Giclee reproductions are available for sale from this collaboration

Additionally, in May 2019, Mr. Cobb received an honorable mention as an inspirational, talented Realist Fine Artist by trade from Brian Higgins of N.Y., House of Representatives, in his speech during a “Proceedings and Debates of the 116th Congress, First Session.”

Mr. Cobb received a degree in Fine Arts from Buffalo State College and currently resides in Buffalo, NY. As an active participant in the arts community of Buffalo, Mr. Cobb has been a member of the Buffalo Arts Council, the Buffalo Historical Society’s Paint the Town, and an exhibiting member of the Buffalo Society of Artists. Mr. Cobb’s works of art have been featured in various print media, including the Buffalo News. His work has also been exhibited in numerous local art galleries and organizations, including Albright Knox Art Gallery, Burchfield Penney Art Gallery, and the African Cultural Center.
