John Fitzgerald Kennedy, often referred to by the initials JFK and Jack, was an American politician who served as the 35th president of the United States from January 1961 until his assassination in November 1963. Kennedy served at the height of the Cold War, and the majority of his work as president concerned relations with the Soviet Union and Cuba. A Democrat, Kennedy represented Massachusetts in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate prior to becoming president.

JFK was born on May 29, 1917, in Brookline, Massachusetts. He was born in a wealthy family, his father Joseph Patrick Kennedy was a businessman and politician and his mother Rose Kennedy was a socialite and philanthropist.

Kennedy started his schooling at Edward Devotion School in Brookline.  JFK graduated from Harvard University in 1940. After completion of his graduation, Kennedy joined the US Navy. He served the Navy for four years and received two medals. In 1946 Jack entered politics by winning his party nomination, at age of 29.

In 1952 John F Kennedy met his wife Jacqueline.  While Kennedy represented Massachusetts in the U.S. House of Representatives, one year later they were married on September 12, 1953. Together the couple had three children including two sons and one daughter.

In 1960 Nov 8, Democrat candidate John F Kennedy defeated the Republican party candidate Richard Nixon. JFK became the first youngest and Roman Catholic person as the president of the United States.

Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas on November 22, 1963 by Lee Harvey Oswald.
